Akira Powell

Vice President, Health Care Management, B2H, MSC

Akira started his career in social services in Project Hospitality as a COBRA Case Manager servicing the HIV positive and Homeless community.  After finishing his Master’s Degree at Hunter School of Social Work, Akira diversified his experience by moving into supervising an OASAS Outpatient Clinic at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.

Feeling the need to get back into his Case Management roots Akira assisted with the transition to Health Homes as the Director of Care Coordination and Children’s ICM program at the Institute for Community Living. Akira was instrumental in growing this small Care Coordination program and increasing their footprint in NYC. Keeping with Care Management Akira joined Brightpoint Health, one of NYC’s largest Adult Health Home programs and oversaw the programs migration to their current Electronic Medical Record.

Akira joins Little Flower with over 15 years of management experience and currently oversees the Children’s Health Home, Bridges to Health, and Health Care Management programs.
