Foster Parent Orientation
Families interested in foster care and adoption are welcome to attend this orientation, which will provide information related to the various levels of the foster care system and what sets our program apart from those offered through other local organizations. Additionally, we will cover the process of becoming a foster parent with Little Flower, and attendees will be provided with applications if they wish to continue to move forward.

NYC Outreach Presents: Mental Health First Aid Training
A Two-Part Training
**Must Attend Both Sessions**
- Part I: August 28, 2018, 10AM-2PM
- Part II: August 29, 2018, 10AM-2PM
Participants will be educated on the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, build an understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches the individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge, which is common in adolescents, including anxiety; depression; psychosis; eating disorders; ADHD; disruptive behavior disorders; and substance use disorder.
Participants learn to support a youth developing signs and symptoms of a mental illness or in an emotional crisis by applying a core Five-Step Action Plan:
- Assess for risk of suicide or harm
- Listen nonjudgmentally
- Give re-assurance and information
- Encourage appropriate professional help
- Encourage self-help and other support strategies
