Preparing Youth for Adulthood
Little Flower aims to level the playing field for foster youth by providing them with vital skills and opportunities for success. The Preparing Youth for Adulthood (PYA) program develops valuable life skills and fosters youth self-esteem through inventive services and programs. The program helps youth gain the skills they need to handle the day-to-day responsibilities of adulthood. By empowering foster youth both socially and economically, the team helps them develop the resiliency and self-confidence to succeed once they transition out of foster care.
PYA is offered to foster youth ages 14 to 21 and consists of workshops and exercises on topics such as personal finance, budgeting, banking, insurance, leases, job preparedness, resume writing, job interview prep, taxes, college applications, financial aid, grocery shopping, nutrition, balancing social activities with obligations, and more.
PYA also offers site visits to places like banks and the DMV. Staff walk the youth through the site and teach them how to complete applications for critical documents such as passports and other paperwork.
PYA also offers these extracurricular activities:
Computer Labs
