Residential Treatment Center
The Residential Treatment Center (RTC), located on our Wading River campus, serves children from Nassau and Suffolk counties as well as youth who are referred through the New York City Committees on Special Education.
The RTC is a therapeutic community that uses a trauma-informed, multi-systemic approach to providing youth with quality care and support to address their emotional, behavioral and mental health needs.
An interdisciplinary treatment team consisting of social workers, mental health staff, childcare staff, educators, medical professionals and a recreation therapist, formulates individualized treatment plans to address the specific needs of each young person.
Youth reside in modern cottages with access to a robust array of recreational opportunities. The RTC also offers a Culinary Arts Program, a learning garden, and music and art therapy.
The Inner Lights Program is a specialized residential treatment program for children with medical and behavioral needs, including diagnoses of Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) and physical disabilities. Inner Lights offers a home-like environment with maximum visual supervision while providing privacy for residents.
The RTC is fortunate to have the Little Flower Union Free School District (UFSD) on campus. The UFSD, a Special Act Public School, is for students with special educational needs. It provides both residential and day placements for children in grades three through twelve. Teachers focus on each child so that their education, in tandem with the therapeutic milieu of the RTC, offers the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
