The Emergence ProjectSM

“This program has played a major role in my life because it gave me the opportunity to meet new people and it taught me so many things that I need to know as I become a young adult. I am more open to discovering new things and going new places.” – P., age 16, Queens

Launched in the Spring of 2018, The Emergence ProjectSM (TEP) is an innovative youth development program. TEP provides transformative youth leadership training through an evidence-based performance approach.  By providing young adults access to business leaders, TEP develops the skills necessary for successful entry into the ‘working’ world, helping to empower foster youth to reach their full potential.

Virtual workshop with our partners from Fluent, Inc.

TEP is not a traditional educational experience; it provides an advantage to the disadvantaged.  It is a developmental program that teaches our young people how to identify goals, skills, areas to improve, and ways to challenge themselves. TEP exposes our youth to experiences that they would not likely have had. We give them an opportunity to practice their performances, which is an opportunity the average person may not have.

We prepare our young people for their entrance into the professional world by introducing them to business professionals. Our partners lead weekly workshops, conduct mock interviews, offer talks on their field and career, champion paid internships at their businesses, and more. All graduates, after successfully completing the program, are offered a paid 6-week summer internship at a professional location.

The goal of TEP is for students to develop as leaders and become more confident at navigating foreign, and often uncomfortable environments and situations.
